It's a crazy tough road out there, but I'm so grateful that I sent it out one last time! LOL

So don't give up... Keep writing and keep submitting... It'll happen! :)

LisaLisa Kesslerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06209324744019368067noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1268238247379169028.post-44021848339057582732012-05-08T11:11:57.402-07:002012-05-08T11:11:57.402-07:00Very good points Karen! And sometimes the way they rejects you lets you realize you DID dodge a bullet! A bad agent (or just the wrong one for your work) is far worse than no agent.

Thanks for coming by and commenting!

Marie Andreas (at work, can't get on blogger...sigh)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1268238247379169028.post-77794975448799043502012-05-08T07:59:35.174-07:002012-05-08T07:59:35.174-07:00Really good points, Marie! Something important for...Really good points, Marie! Something important for all rejectees to keep in mind is that there's a positive side to being rejected. For one thing, breathe a sigh of relief because whoever rejected you (I'm thinking in specific terms of agents and editors) wasn't right for you or your work, so imagine how miserable you would have been working with someone who wasn't enthusiastic about your story. You need the support of someone who's behind you all the way.

Another point is if your work wasn't ready to be published, having it released into the world before its time would have a negative impact on your reputation as an author. So if your work is rejected for not being strong enough, now you have a chance to make it stronger.Karen Duvallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01839711547501582977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1268238247379169028.post-53782220051841019072012-05-07T21:03:00.906-07:002012-05-07T21:03:00.906-07:00Thanks for coming by Cassi :). It's so true that they will encourage you to try something besides writing instead of understanding rejection is just part of the process. Rejection hurts, like stubbing your toe, but us writers will walk on. :)Cassi Carverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01002927554421244606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1268238247379169028.post-30732720112363566552012-05-07T11:16:03.835-07:002012-05-07T11:16:03.835-07:00Thanks Khriste! :)

HOWEVER, if the rejection begins to overwhelm the joy you feel in writing, it's okay to take a temporary break from your publication quest in order to rediscover your love of writing. Hold on to that love of writing like a precious ember and don't let anything snuff it out, even if that means having a time-out for a pre-set period of days (or weeks or months, lol) in order to get over your grief, regroup, and get passionate about your creative process again.

Thanks again, Marie!Melissa Cutlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00110444399980196899noreply@blogger.com
